SILVERSEA CONCLUDES 34-VOYAGE 2024/2025 ANTARCTICA SEASON, LOOKS FORWARD TO OPENING OF WORLD’S SOUTHERNMOST HOTEL

Scheduled to open in the 2025/2026 Antarctica season, the hotel in Puerto Williams will strengthen Silversea’s leadership in polar travel by offering guests an enhanced, seamless journey to the continent

(MIAMI – April 10th, 2025) Silversea, the world’s leading experiential luxury and expedition travel brand, has successfully concluded its 2024/2025 Antarctica season. Three of the company’s ships — Silver EndeavourSilver Cloud, and Silver Wind — hosted guests on 34 voyages to the continent between October 29th, 2024, and March 31st, 2025, creating unforgettable memories for travelers by immersing them into the region’s pristine natural beauty.

“Visiting Antarctica is among the most enriching experiences and our 34-voyage 2024/2025 season delivered an unparalleled range of moments to our guests, with calls in new destinations, once-in-a-lifetime wildlife sightings, and other unforgettable activities delivered by our industry-leading Expedition Team,” said Bert Hernandez, president, Silversea. “We are now eagerly preparing to launch our new 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, which, set to be the southernmost hotel on Earth, will enhance our industry-leading polar offering by creating a uniquely seamless Antarctica Fly Cruise experience for our guests, delivered in Silversea’s uncompromised comfort.”

THE SEASON’S HIGHLIGHTS: THREE SHIPS, 34 VOYAGES, 12 ANTARCTICA FLY CRUISE SAILINGS

The company catered for the varied needs of its guests throughout the 2024/2025 season by operating a diverse range of voyage types — from six-day Antarctica Fly Cruise voyages aboard Silver Endeavour for time-pushed travelers to extended sailings of up to 21 days that took in the very best of the Southern Ocean.

An action-packed season, in which guests enjoyed many unforgettable moments, the 2024/2025 Antarctica voyage collection featured numerous highlights:

  • Silver Endeavour journeyed into Crystal Sound and crossed into the Polar Circle on March 1st, on route to Detaille Island and the Historic Base W, where guests ventured ashore, enjoyed Zodiac cruises, and kayaked. The ship then took the Inside Passage back up to the Penola and Gerlache Strait regions, stopping at the Fish Islands and performing a continental landing at Prospect Point.
  • Silver Wind made three visits to the seldom visited Intercurrence Island, the largest of the spectacular Christiana Islands — a new destination for Silversea. The calls featured vast grounded icebergs, pods of humpback whales, and various other wildlife sightings, as well as Zodiac cruises and kayaking. This call was assisted by the company’s dedicated Antarctica scouting mission. An expression of Silversea’s commitment To Finding More, the company enhanced its Antarctica offering for guests’ enjoyment by journeying approximately 2,700 nautical miles to identify 22 previously untapped landing sites on a dedicated scouting mission in 2023.
  • A favored activity among guests, Silversea completed a total of 28 polar plunge operations throughout Antarctica, with almost 2,300 guests across the three ships participating.
  • In addition to near daily baleen whale sightings on various voyages, guests on Silver Endeavour enjoyed an extremely rare moment on November 11th, spotting beaked whales during Zodiac excursions in Wilhelmina Bay. Guests on each of Silversea’s three Antarctica-going ships reported multiple sightings of pods of orcas, with those on Silver Wind also spotting 50+ fin whales in a single sighting near Elephant Island. The Expedition Team on Silver Wind also reported multiple blue whale encounters on route to South Georgia on March 20th.

Silversea’s industry-leading Expedition Team, which comprises up to 28 experts on each expedition (the highest expedition staff-to-guest ratio in luxury expedition cruising), offered guests one of the most personalized experiences available in Antarctica, from naturalists and historians to botanists and geologists, among others.

ENHANCING ANTARCTICA TRAVEL: SILVERSEA’S NEW 150-ROOM HOTEL IN PUERTO WILLIAMS

True to the company’s spirit of innovation, having pioneered the luxury expedition concept in 2008, Silversea is developing a new hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile — the southernmost city on Earth. The 150-room facility will create an unrivaled experience for guests to explore the rugged landscape of Antarctica. Scheduled to open during the 2025/2026 Antarctica season, the hotel will facilitate a uniquely seamless journey to the continent, allowing guests to enjoy Silversea’s personalized service and warm hospitality throughout their travels.

Overlooking the Beagle Channel and surrounded by pristine forest, the hotel will feature views of the water and snow-capped Patagonian mountains. Due to its innovative architectural design, the hotel will blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment, drawing inspiration from local traditional art, architecture, and materials.
